Part 13

EXT. GHETTO 14. NIGHT

Sleek black gunships are approaching the ghetto fast and low over the choppy polluted waters.

INT. GUNSHIP

Red light illuminates four hard camouflaged faces and silenced M4's. Their squad leader, SHAW, is whistling and looks out of the door across the rushing water at another gunship. Standing in the doorway is Malice smoking a cigar. His gunship peels off from the group and speeds towards the ghetto leaving vapor trails in the starlit sky. The second gunship follows.

EXT. PLAYGROUND.

Terry and Dan emerge from the crashed helicopter. Dan grabs Terry's sleeve as he turns towards the sound of JET ENGINES

DAN
We need to get out of here now.

TERRY
No shit mate, follow me, lets give it toes.

They disappear into a dark alley.

EXT. THE SQUARE.

Two gunships hovers above the statue of Derek Lock. Thick ropes are thrown down, litter and newspapers are blowing about furiously, hobos and junkies scatter into the surrounding alleys. Ten large armored figures descend rapidly down the ropes.

MALICE – Plasma rifle
McLEISH. Short red and Scottish – Shotgun
CHARLES. Black scouser, early forties – MP5
DAVEY. Blond, Sussex psycho - MP5
CRAVEN. Large, ugly, from Yorkshire – Vickers MG MKII

SHAW. Ex-boxer – Plasma rifle
THOMPSON. Manc Communications Officer - Shotgun
DUTTON. Skinhead from Stretham - MP5
DOYLE. Skin head from Catford - MP5
FRANKS. Flame proof mask and suit - Flamethrower

They take up assault positions outside the Rusty Hatchet. The gunship speeds off up into the night sky. One of the two pub doors is hanging off its hinges. Malice bowls up and KICKS the door in, it lands on a bloodied unconscious biker on the floor.

INT. RUSTY HATCHET.

Inside, half a dozen men, including Lenny, are still sluggishly fighting. Lenny is PUNCHING an unconscious biker in the face. He stops as he sees Malice saunter in.

MALICE
Ello boys.

Lenny is holding the biker by the hair

LENNY
fuck you want?

Malice flashes a wry smile.

MALICE
Community Support big man. We're looking for some troublemakers.

Lenny drops the biker and wipes sweat and blood from his face.

LENNY
You come to the right place you cuuuuunt!

The other men in the bar move behind Lenny. One biker wrestles a table leg off an upturned table. One pulls a bowie knife out of a mans nearly severed leg. Another puts his boot on the bouncers huge chin. He yanks the massive wrench out of his skull, the suction sends brain matter SPLATTERING on the ceiling. Pieces of brain and bone fall down around Lenny as he glares intensely at Malice.

MALICE
Fair enough.

He flicks a switch on his plasma rifle, it WHIRRS as it heats up. His boys enter and take aim. All except the flamethrower open up. Lenny and the remaining brawlers disintegrate in a hail of gunfire and plasma rounds. They SPLATTER on the back wall as it begins to collapse under the volume of fire. Out in the alley, ragged cats scatter. The back wall EXPLODES outwards in a cloud of dust and blood.

BLACK

INT. STAIRWELL

Dan and Terry are descending a narrow dimly lit metal spiral staircase. They reach the bottom, the light is flickering, there is rubbish on the floor and graffiti on the walls. Water is RUSHING beneath them through the grill of a storm drain. Terry walks over to a green electrical box, taking a small utility key out of his pocket. He opens the box and pulls out a red wire, he looking at Dan with a grin. Terry wraps the wire around his fist and pulls the circuit board open. It swings back, revealing a narrow passage, and a set of stairs, candles burning in descending alcoves cut into the wall. Terry gestures to Dan with his open hand.

TERRY
After you sir.

Dan crouches down and goes through, Terry enters. On the other side he pulls the red wire to bring the circuit board back into place then pulls two black wires, the two outer doors attached to them swing shut. Terry opens a flap in the middle of the circuit board and locks the outer door with the key. Dan follows Terry down the stairs, they come to a metal door, reinforced with corrugated iron, Terry has another key in his hand
